Savannah interviewed her grandad about some of the changes he has seen in his local area over the years. It was very interesting to read about how much the town, farms and even schools have changed.

We read "The Tree" by Bob Darrach.
It is the story of a small seedling that barely survived but grew into a big crooked tree. It survived for a very long time. A lot of new creatures came and made their homes beside the tree: Maori, whalers and goldminers and many others. The tree was there through all the changes. We wondered what it sounded like, looked like and felt like to be there during these times of change.... |
The Museum Trip
On Thursday Smith and Church room 14 and Quigley Contracting senior room from Lagmhor, went to the museum to see what Maori used to make and build for our inquiry topic Where We Are in Time and Place. We walked to the Museum. We got a pack of cards and put them into two piles. One of which were things already here and one which were things brought with them to New Zealand. We also did a scavenger hunt. We had a go making butter from cream and flour from grain. The best thing I liked was making butter and flour because I haven’t done that before.
